Two easy-to-follow steps:
1. create your matte

2. drag the preset onto it

Done.

To enhance the effect, add a hidden copy of the raw matte and an adjustment layer underneath your water. Add a Displacement filter to the adjustment layer and set its Displacement Map Layer property to the hidden copy. This will create refraction. You can add a Compound Blur with the same settings to it if you don’t want the background to appear entirely sharp.

The concept is easy: you create markers where you want a fade-in or fade-out of the caption. Every odd marker determines a fade-in and will hold a comment with the caption’s text, and every even marker will create a fade-out.

Now bear with us. Download our file and change the appearance of the caption background, font, etc. – the expressions will make sure that the caption adapts its size to the content.

***UPDATE: We updated the package. A few more lines of expressions add the functionality of multiline text. This way, the caption box will always get the width of the longest line.***

Note that the average letter width works best with unispaced fonts like Courier or FixedSys.

The ForEach node acts as group containing the actions to be repeated and comes with controls to change visual and functional settings.
The copies created by the node are linked clones – this way you can change all iterations at once.

If you want to repeat an action independently from any input nodes, use the manual mode and define a range for the loop. CTG ForEach will create an individual NoOp node called “each” for every clone. These Each nodes contain a variable i that you can access down the node-tree (make sure you declone your nodes first) using the following Python expression: forEach_i() or in TCL script (which is the default language for expressions):

This is not a gizmo as it’s not possible to edit the contents of gizmos. Rather, it will take the current selection and collapse it to a group with extended knobs and functionality.

We were working with two water tanks (basic aquariums bought off the net) and (from left to right) glycerin, egg dye, turps, fluorescent T-shirt color, window paint, camouflage face paint, gelatin, odourless white spirit, several types of acrylic paint and oil-based varnish.

During the first shoot, we only had one source of light to our disposal, so we had to work with mirrors and reflectors. Thicker colors required additional light from the front whereas thinner ones worked better backlit.

This can come in handy when creating thick walls on narrow buildings or when working with organic shapes.

Best enjoyed cooked when working with complex shapes. Some input curves might make troubles. To workaround that problem, either try the troubleshooting option or chain two Curve Offset nodes in succession, the first one having a very small offset value and the ladder one the actual offset.

The sampling distance determines how accurate the cusps shall be calculated while snapping distance controls how close corner points have to get before being consolidated.

Level of detail sets the amount of segmentation (thus roundness) of NURBS curves when troubleshoot is activated.

Trim cusps at positive offset will eliminate any intersections occurring when doing a large positive offset. As long as no intersections happen, CurveOffset works better with this option off.
